  1. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has become the first public sector enterprise to make a transaction on the “TReDS platform”, which is an online electronic institutional mechanism for facilitating the financing of trade receivables of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) through multiple financiers.
  2. World Mosquito Day observed on 20th August.
  3.  India banned petroleum coke import for use as fuel.Among polluting fuels, petroleum coke (Petcoke) remains one of the most polluting ones as it emits 11% more greenhouse gas compared to coal. India is the world’s biggest consumer of Petcoke.
  4. Paytm launched Paytm AI Cloud for India, an AI Cloud computing platform.
  5.  Maruti Suzuki launched a new version of Ciaz 2018 with prices starting from Rs.8.19 lakh
  6.   K S Srinivas has taken charge as the Chairman of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA).
  7. The Indian Army and the Royal Thai Army completed a two-week-long platoon level annual joint military exercise. The exercise was named as “Exercise Maitree”.
  8. According to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) data, India is still not power surplus as envisaged because peak power deficit in April-July was 0.9 per cent, while overall electricity deficit stood at 0.6 per cent during the 4-month period this fiscal.
  9. Indian swimmers, Sajjan Prakash and Shreeharri Natraj, were respectively at fifth and seventh place in the men’s 200 meters butterfly and 100 meter backstroke in the 18th Asian Games.
  10. Kidambi Srikanth-led Indian badminton team got off to a solid start at Asian Games 2018 as they defeated Malaysia 3-0 in their opening match.
